Launched in 2005, Unified Health: A Clinician's Forum is a quarterly 
trade journal in complementary and alternative medicine honoring the scientific and spiritual aspects of health and healing.

Professional clinician's contribute original articles, clinical approach essays, and research reviews covering a broad spectrum of topics.  An ongoing editorial focus explores the clinical significance of whole foods and the influence of consciousness on healing.   Unified Health is a forum for clinicians unified in their commitment to the physical, mental and spiritual domains of health and medicine.

Our Mission

Unified Health is a clinician's forum.  We honor the scientific and spiritual aspects of health with an emphasis on the clinical significance of whole food nutrition and the influence of consciousness on healing.  We are a dynamic forum for today's healthcare professionals unified in their commitment to the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of the human community they serve.


Our Editor-in-Chief

   Matt Laughlin, MA, Editor-in-Chief
  After completing over two years in a doctor
  of naturopathic medicine program with Bastyr University of 
  Seattle, Matt decided to focus his professional work more
  closely on the inner dimensions of healing.  He earned an
  MA in Contemplative Psychotherapy at Naropa University,
  a program integrating eastern (meditation & Buddhist
  psychology) and western approaches to the practice of
  counseling.  Matt's practice, Spiritus Counseling  LLC, is 
  based in Boulder and Denver, Colorado.  In addition to
  private practice,  Matt volunteers with Access Counseling, a nonprofit organization providing psychotherapy services to a diverse clientele in Boulder.  Matt is especially dedicated to the therapeutic application of forgiveness, and facilitates ongoing seminars on a mindfulness-based forgiveness approach to healing.  He is the author of the wellness guide for patients, Fundamental Principles of Holistic Medicine: A Guide to Actualizing Optimal Health, with a forward by Mary Bove, ND (2006 Unified Health Press).    

Since its inception, under Matt's leadership Unified Health has welcomed contributions from numerous leaders in health, medicine, psychology and spirituality.

Our Columnists

 Brad Lichtenstein, ND
  Calling Seattle, WA his home, Dr. Lichtenstein spends his
  time practicing as a naturopath, yoga and meditation
  therapist and core faculty at Bastry University in the
  Counseling and Health Psychology Department.  His
  approach to care emphasizes the cultivation of mindfulness
  and embodiment of the present without judgment.  Brad
  continues to facilitate yoga class and his Prana Play workshops  exploring the dynamic and conscious play of energy as it manifests in the body, breath, thought, intention and action.  Brad's contributes to the Healing & Consciousness column of Unified Health.

  Larken Bunce, MS
  Larken Bunce is an educator and herbalist practicing in
  Montpelier, VT.  She holds a master's of science in herbal
  medicine and has been joyfully working and playing with
  herbs since 1994, weaving traditional views of health and
  nature with scientific understandings of plants and people. 
  She co-directs the Vermont Center for Integrative
  Herbalism , a non-profit organization providing herbalist
  training and free clinical service.  She serves as core
  faculty in the Health, Arts and Sciences program of
  Goddard College, as well as education coordinator for
  Plant Medicine, an international organization delivering evidence-based, clinically relevant information to professionals and the public.  Larken contributes to the Awakening Our Innate Response column of Unified Health. 

  Kevin Spelman
  Kevin Spelman is a research scientist and a practitioner of
  clinical phytotherapy/ayurvedic medicine.  Mr. Spelman is
  currently using proteomics methodology at the University of
  North Carolina to research bioactive compounds from
  medicinal plants.  Past international research has included
  the analysis of nutrient levels in women of early childbearing
  age in West Africa and working with children with
  neurological disorders in Central America.  Additionally,
  Mr. Spelman has cultivated the growth of professional and
  competent herbal medicine as founding faculty/board
  member of the first B.S. in botanical medicine and recently of the first M.S. in clinical herbal medicine in the U.S.
